Welcome to my blog

Hello Friends,

I am excited to communicate with you about how you can overcome one of the biggest but often overlooked set of risk factors for heart disease, i.e. psycho-social risk factors, or simply stress.  As a cardiac psychologist,  I’ve helped many patients turn their lives around. I sincerely hope that you or someone you know can benefit from my blog. Heart disease touched my family in 1999 suddenly.  Although I was already practicing as a psychologist and my specialty was stress managent, I had not known that stress and depression were independent risk factors for heart disease. So I decided to explore this area of heart disease.  Now, over thar past 7 years, it has become my personal and professional mission to educate and help people battling heart disease  and plan on dedicating my blog to this mission.  Do you suffer from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high sugar levels?  Is your doctor concerned that you may be at high risk for a heart attack?  Have you had a heart attack, any type of heart surgery including bypass surgery, any type of arrythmia, or stents?  Are you, or a loved one in and out of the hospital with one cardiac event after another?  Are you, or a loved one saying to yourself ” I am young, I have been doing everything right - eating right, exercising, I am a non-smoker, non-drinker, and not overweight, and yet how could I have had a heart attack or bypass surgery?  If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you have come to the right place. I will be addressing the mind-body connection in heart disease, the impact of stress and depression on your heart and will share valuable tools to empower yourself and harness the power of your mind to prevent further cardiac events.

Until next time….Cheeers, Dr. A. Rao
